Now Hiring — Operational Manager — Join Our Flock

The Hawaiʻi Audubon Society, a nonprofit organization since 1939, is looking for a fulltime Operations Manager. Annual starting salary is $50,000, plus health insurance, with increase potential. Work at home and/or in the HAS office, with some outreach.

Job Description: This position requires a willingness to do what needs to be done to keep Hawaii Audubon Society legal, active, and thriving. The below list includes, but is not limited to, working with existing employees and board members on: 

  • Managing Hawaiʻi Audubon Society’s Freeman Seabird Preserve at Black Point. This involves volunteer coordination, scheduling, community relations, research oversight, and more. 
  • Encouraging and supporting memberships, and maintaining a member database. Experience with Salesforce or similar software a plus.
  • Bookkeeping.  Experience with, or willingness to learn, QuickBooks, Stripe, PayPal, Little Green Light. 
  • Website store and sales management
  • Sharing of event planning and execution
  • Manage HAS general business: email, waivers, testimonies, etc.
  • Attend and help with board meetings 


  • Our operations manager must be kind, patient, and willing to work with our staff, volunteers and executives. Goals are to 1) share the joy of Hawaii’s birds with residents, visitors, and the world, 2) make Hawaiʻi Audubon the go-to organization for bird information including tours, birding, research, etc., and 3) have fun.
  • Have an understanding of Hawaiʻi’s unique biological diversity.
  • Know and appreciate Hawaiian culture, as well as Hawaiʻi’s unique customs and traditions.
