Who We Are

We foster community values that result
in the protection and restoration of
native wildlife and ecosystems and
conservation of natural resources
through education, science, and
advocacy in Hawai’i and the Pacific.

What We Do

We sponsor community science projects,
organize habitat restoration teams, lead field
trips, provide information for local and visiting
birders of all ages, and advocate for
local conservation issues. Hawaii
Audubon Society publishes a bimonthly, peer-reviewed journal called ‘Elepaio and in 2020, released the 7th edition of our popular book,  Hawaii’s Birds.

Our book

The 7th edition of Hawaii’s Birds is available on our online store. First published by Hawaii Audubon Society in 1967, this 5″×7″ book answers the question, “What’s that bird?” for both native and introduced species.

Countless photographers, bird experts, writers, and editors donated pictures and skills to make this book a must-have for experts and novices alike. In addition to photos, names, descriptions, voice, habits, and conservation of most birds you see in Hawai’i, the new edition also includes the birds’ cultural and historical significance to the Hawaiian people.
