Oʻahu
Training: West Loch Shoreline Park/Kapapahui Point Park
🗓️ Date: Saturday, November 9, 2024
🕖 Time: 7:30 AM
📍 Location: West Loch Shoreline Park/Kapapahui Point Park, Apokaʻa, Overlook at Honoʻuliʻuli
🤷♂️ Contact for more information: Dick May, rmayhi02@hotmail.com, (808) 375-2439 (call or text)
*Note from the organizer: This will be limited to four plus myself, as space to view birds from outside the refuge fence is limited. We will park at West Loch Shoreline Park and the route involves a walk of about 1.5 miles round trip on fairly level ground. Plan on good hiking shoes, a hat and sunscreen, and a binocular. I will have a spotting scope. If it has rained and the paths are really muddy, we will cancel the event day prior. Participation is first-come, first-served, so please contact me to sign up. As always, tours are completely free. Goal is to build a cadre of competent, comfortable birders to help us count in 2024 and in future years.

Bird Count: Honolulu Circle
🗓️ Date: Sunday, December 15, 2024
🕖 Time: All day
📍 Location: Honolulu Circle
🤷♂️ Contact for more information: Peter Donaldson, pdnldsn.bird@mac.com, (808) 371-4447
*Note from the organizer: The Honolulu count covers Oʻahu from Waimānalo on the east to Aiea on the west, and from Kaneohe on the north to Diamond Head on the south (the area inside the red circle on the image). There will be a number of parties going out to cover different parts of the count circle, so there is no one meeting place. If there is a part of the count circle where you’d like to count, let me know. You could cover an area on your own (or with whoever you have to go out counting with) or I can see if someone already scheduled to go out counting would like you to join them. Keep in mind that some counters will prefer to count by themselves. Please email me (preferably) or call me if you are interested in participating. If you know others who might be interested, please pass this request on to them, or let me know so I can contact them. Some birding experience is helpful, but you do not need to be an expert birder to participate. If you have any preference for your count area, please let me know.
