Bird Cartoon Contest

In addition to being adorable, entertaining, and sometimes hilarious, birds are an important part of island life. We encourage students to join us in celebrating all birds by participating in our Bird Cartoon Contest!
SUBJECT
You can choose any bird in Hawai’i as your subject (native birds given preference). Comics can be funny or factual.
ART NOTES
Take your time. Do quality work. Outline your images with a pen. Write clearly and legibly. If you use color, fill in spaces completely. No scribbling unless it’s part of a joke. Entries must be original work – no clip art, AI, stock photos, reusing images, etc.
PRIZES
-A free family membership to Hawai’i Audubon Society for one year. ($40 value)
-“Hawaii’s Birds” Guide book
-Judges will announce winning entries throughout the year, and share them in our e-newsletter and on social media. We may also publish selected comics in our journal, ʻElepaio.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Students must be Hawai’i residents in grades K-12.
Email a photo, scan, or saved image of the comic to: events@hiaudubon.org

The contest will run throughout 2024. Winners will be chosen at the end of each month, depending on the number and quality of entries.
